BIO
Backwards Records NW recording artists MURDER & Joy Von Spain formed 100PIECES in 2007. Most active in the HARSH & THREAT series, the duo has played dance parties, noise shows, art galleries, dive bars, and at HARSHFEST, often playing live to films - notably Can't Stop the L. Ron of Nazareth (2008) as well as collaborated with Danse Perdue/Death Posture butoh.
Utilizing a vast array of digital and analog synthesizers, samplers, drum machines, tapes, percussion and Joy Von Spain's voice, 100PIECES vacillate between noise, hardcore, classical, and harsh industrial beats to create collages known as Doom N Bass and noisecore.
Cuts from their first EP, God Hates Babies, are a favorite with Northwest underground djs. The Ebola Hemorrhagic Suite (Backwards NW 2008) is a nasty collage of cellular destruction and decay. 100PIECES' sounds appear on Australia's Smell the Stench label, as a podcast on Sonarchy (KEXP fm 90.3 Seattle), and on bootlegs by Overdose the Katatonic and Northwest masters of subversion Soccer Mom Ebonics.
