John Sacco -Guitar, Bass, Vocals
I fell in love with music at age 7 (1976) when my sister Jayne gave me my first Beatles record and a Stereo. The album was Magical Mystery Tour (inside the cover for Alice Cooper's "Killer" LP...which subsequently confused me for quite some time). The stereo was an old blue Magnovox with speakers that swung out to the side. After many years of playing the tennis racket in front of the mirror in my bedroom. I jumped at the opportunity to play a real instrument at school. They never teach guitar, so I played saxophone in grade school while not-so-secretly lusting for a guitar that my dad finally picked up for me at Pamplone's Music in Medford. A small scale Stella Harmony acoustic. I learned my first blues riff from my sister Nancy's boyfriend Ken, and I was sold on guitar forever. Fast forward to 1985...after taking some guitar lessons and learning what I could from music books, I met my future brother in law John...a bass player. The ever elusive bass player. We played whenever we could, and mastered about a hundred songs, mostly Neil Young covers. We formed a kind of family band for a time, consisting of Ken, (remember him?) John, James, Nancy's new boyfriend (long story), and brother-in-law Bruce. Fast forward to 2004, John and I still getting together but meet up with Steve Rainford who let us play music in his basement for 5 years +. Our band was called In One Ear, then, Wheelhouse. We played a number of shows around Gloucester, MA most notably at the 2008 and 2009 Downtown Gloucester Block Parties. During this time I was obsessed with recording, but most of that has been lost on an old hard drive that has died and I don't have the resources to exhume. At the moment I am jamming with Will Hunt, Tucker Lindquist, Peter VanNess, and of course John Buckner my trusty bro-in-law. There are some upcoming gigs. I also play acoustic music with former bandmate Charlie Blaney of Gloucester and we've played the Gloucester farmer's market. Also enjoy making music on my Mac. More on the future coming soon. Let me know if you're out there.
